It’s All About Jesus

Dear Friends,

It is hard to believe I have almost completed my first year of nursing school. Life goes by so fast, and within the blink of an eye, God can take away — loved ones, relationships, friendships, things precious to your heart. We are certainly not guaranteed tomorrow and we must live life to its fullest.

Galatians 2:20 sums up how God has radically been changing my life.

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

Sometimes we think that being crucified with Christ is all about what we give up —practicing self-denial and saying no to sin, temptations, and worldly pleasures. However, there is so much truth that includes living in the power of His resurrected life. The amazing part about being children of God is the fact that Jesus Christ makes His abode in us, empowering us to overcome sin and live righteously. However, we can’t deny the fact that He also carries our burdens and encourages our spirits to trust Him. Just as we are saved by faith, so also we must live each and every day, each and every breath that we take upon this sin-stricken world by faith, trusting the Lord day by day with all our needs and concerns.

The beautiful refrain lyrics of the song “Not I, but Christ” written by Ada Widdington say this:

“O to be saved from myself, dear Lord,
O to be lost in Thee,
O that it might be no more I,
But Christ, that lives in me.”

How little faith do we have throughout the day? I love the line that says, “O to be lost in Thee.” Imagine if we lived every step so completely lost in our Lord and Savior and so radically in love with Him? How much would our lives change? It mustn’t be myself, but it must be Christ…

…in his obedience,

…in his righteousness,

…in his sacrifice,

…in justification,

…in regeneration,

…in sanctification,

The point is that Christianity can be boiled down to one word:

C H R I S T

Charles Spurgeon said this, “If you leave out Christ, you have left the sun out of the day, and the moon out of the night, you have left the waters out of the sea, and the floods out of the river, you have left the harvest out of the year, the soul out of the body, you have left joy out of heaven, you robbed all of it’s all. There is no gospel worth thinking of, much less worth proclaiming if Jesus be forgotten. We must have Jesus as Alpha and Omega in all our ministries.”

Amen. This is exactly the type of focus we need to live by. There is no gospel…if Jesus be forgotten. It’s all about Jesus, friends.

In Christ Always,
